What are the main components of the ball valve?
The main components of the
ball valve are as follows: the valve body, ball, valve seat, stem and transmission device.
According to the form of the valve body channel,
ball valves can be divided into through ball valves, three-way ball valves, and four-way ball valves. The structure of the valve body has the following types like integral, two-piece, three-piece and fractional four. The integral valve body is generally used for small caliber ball valves. The bodies of two-piece and three-piece valves are suitable for medium and large diameter ball valves. The split valve body is mainly used for hard-sealed ball valves in the coal chemical industry.
The ball is an opening and closing part of the ball valves. The sealing surface is the surface of the ball. The accuracy of the surface roughness of the sphere is high. The channel of through ball valves on the ball is through. The ball channel of the three-way ball valve has three shapes: L shape, T shape and Y shape. Its division form is the same as that of the plug valve. According to the fixed way of the ball in the valve body, the ball valve can be divided into floating ball valves and fixed ball valves.
a. The floating ball valves
The ball is held in two seats and it can float. Under the action of medium pressure, the ball is pressed to the sealing ring on the outlet side so that it is sealed. This kind of structure is simple. The sealing is unilateral and the sealing performance is good, but the bearing of the sealing surface is great. Therefore, the opening and closing force is also large. Generally, it is suitable for medium pressure and low pressure valves, medium and small diameter valves.
b. The fixed ball valves
The ball is fixed by the upper and lower valve stems. It can only rotate and not produce horizontal movement. To ensure tightness, it must have a floating seat that produces thrust and compacts the ring against the ball. This kind of structure is more complex. The size is large, and it has small opening and closing torque. It is suitable for high pressure large diameter ball valves at the lower end of the ball movement connection. It can drive the ball rotation.

What are the uses of the ball valve?
The ball valve is the most significant development in recent decades. The ball valve has been widely used in long-distance pipelines. The medium flow direction of ball valves is not restricted. The pressure and diameter range of ball valves are wide, but the use of temperature is limited by the sealing ring material and constraints. Through ball valves are used for truncating medium, and it is the most widely used. Multi-way ball valves can change the direction of media flow or distribution, because of the appearance of hard sealed ball valves. The applicable pressure and temperature of the ball valve have been greatly increased. The applicable temperature increases to -200 to 450℃, or even 600~700℃ from -50 to 200℃. The applicable pressure increases to PN320 from PN40, especially the emergence of various lined ball valves. The applicable medium of the ball valve is further expanded.
In particular, large diameter ball valves have moved beyond the concept of traditional use for cut-off. They are increasingly being developed to replace traditional throttling globe valves. With the development of the structure of ball valves, the development of materials, especially the improvement of the internal structure, and its scope of use are also expanded. In the process industry of throttling, it has broken the dominance of globe valves and becomes the control valve industry in the field of the fastest development of a valve.
