Below are the differences between
globe valves and
ball valves.
1. The fluid resistance is not the same. The fluid resistance of
ball valves is small. The resistance coefficient is equal to the same length of the pipe section. The fluid resistance of ball valves is big. The required force is large when we open and close it.
2. The classification is not the same. The ball valve is divided into the bypass valve, the air valve, the pressure relief valve and the sewage valve. The
globe valve is divided into the straight globe valve, the straight flow globe valve, the angle globe valve and the plunger globe valve.
3. The application is not the same. The ball valve is especially suitable for medium containing fiber, small solid material, etc. Globe valves can be used to control the flow of air, water, steam, various corrosive media, mud, oil, liquid metal and radioactive media and other types of fluids.
The opening and closing parts of stop valves (globe valves) are plug shaped valve disc. The sealing surface is flat or conical. There are lifting rod types (the stem lifting, hand-wheel not lifting) for stem movement forms. There are lifting rotary rod types (hand-wheel and stem rotating lifting together, nut in the valve body).
4. The globe valve has the following advantages. Simple structure, convenient manufacturing and maintenance, small working stroke, short opening and closing time, good sealing, small friction between sealing surfaces and long service life.
5. The disadvantages of the globe valve are as follows. The fluid resistance is big. The required force when we open and close it is large. It is not suitable for medium with granule, high viscosity and easy coking. The regulation performance is poor.
6. The main characteristic of ball valves is its compact structure. It is easy to operate and maintenance. It is suitable for not only water, solvent, acid and natural gas and other general working medium, but also harsh working conditions of media, such as oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, methane and ethylene. The valve body can be integral and can also be combined.
7. The ball valve in the pipeline is mainly used to cut off, distribute, and change the flow direction of the medium. The ball valve is a new valve that has been widely used in recent years. It has the following advantages.
The fluid resistance is small and its resistance coefficient is equal to that of a pipe section of the same length. Simple structure, small size, light weight and tight and reliable. The sealing surface material of ball valves is widely used in plastic. It has been widely used in vacuum systems. It is easy to operate, open and close quickly. It is convenient for remote control. It is convenient for maintenance. The structure of ball valves is simple. The sealing ring is generally active. The disassembly and replacement are more convenient.
8. When the valve is fully open or fully closed, the sealing surface of the ball and seat is isolated from the medium. When the medium passes, it will not cause the erosion of the seal surface of the valve. The range of applications is wide from small diameter to a few millimeters to a few meters and from high vacuum to high pressure applications. The ball valves have been widely used in petroleum, chemical, power generation, paper making, atomic energy, aviation, rockets and other departments, as well as in people's daily lives.
