When do you use
ball valves and butterfly valves? Let's first see the structure of the
ball valve.
Ball valves are closed parts for the ball. The ball body rotates around the center line of the valve body to open and close a valve.
The working principle of ball valve
The ball valve has a rotation of 90 degrees. The cock body is a sphere, with a circular hole or channel through its axis. The ball valve in the pipeline is mainly used to cut off, distribute and change the direction of the flow of the medium. It only needs to rotate 90 degrees of operation and a small torque to close tight. The ball valve is most suitable for switching and cutting off the valve.
The main characteristics of a ball valve are compact structure, reliable sealing, simple structure, and convenient maintenance. The sealing surface and the sphere are often in a closed state. It is not easy to be washed by the medium, but it is easy to operate and maintain. It is suitable for not only water, solvent, acid and natural gas and other general working media but also working strip pieces of bad media, such as oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, methane and ethylene, etc. It is widely used in various industries.
The installation of the ball valve:
1) Remove the protective cover on both sides of the flange end, and rinse and clean the valve when it is fully open.
2) Before preparing to connect with the pipe, rinse and clean the remaining impurities in the pipe (these substances may damage the seat and ball).
3) During installation, please do not use the actuator part of the valve as the lifting point to avoid damage to the actuator and accessories.
4) Manual ball valves should be installed in the horizontal or vertical direction of the pipeline.
5) The pipeline near the installation point shall not sag or bear external force. Pipe supports can be used to eliminate the deviation of the pipeline.
6) After connecting with the pipe, please use the specified torque to cross-lock the flange connection bolt.
When do you use ball valves and butterfly valves?
The butterfly valve and ball valve are two kinds of commonly used valves. When we install them, we will encounter a lot of problems. In this article, our MED Valve screens out a common problem for you to introduce when to use a ball valve and when to use a butterfly valve.
1. According to the selection of flow capacity, the flow capacity of the ball valve is better than that of the butterfly valve, because the butterfly valve is in the open state. The valve body channel in the butterfly plate occupies a part of the flow channel. The smaller the diameter, the larger the proportion of the flow channel they occupy.
2. According to the use of temperature selection, the butterfly valve can be used for conventional (350℃ below) heating with the saturated steam medium because the sealing material and structure of the ball valve are not suitable for steam medium.
3. According to the stress selection of the pipeline network, the butterfly valve can withstand higher stress because of the valve structure.
4. According to the service life of the choice, the ball valve and butterfly valve have a long service life, but the valve seal structure of the non-metal plays an important role. The service life of hard seal butterfly valves is longer than that of the metal butterfly valve.
5. According to the choice of operating torque, the opening and closing torque of the three eccentric metal seal butterfly valves is very small. The opening and closing torque of the large diameter ball valve will be very large. Therefore, the butterfly valve is more suitable for the large-diameter valve.
6. According to the selection of the sealing performance, the sealing performance of the ball valve is better than that of the butterfly valve. The ball valve is two-way zero leakage. Butterfly valves are bidirectional ANSI V Class standard (no apparent leakage).
7. It can be selected according to price. The price of DN250 ball valves will be better. The price of DN300 butterfly valves will be more advantageous.
