Advantages, Disadvantages and Applications of Pneumatic Ball Valves

With the development of the economy, the use of pneumatic ball valves is becoming increasingly widespread. Today, I will give you a brief introduction to understanding the advantages, disadvantages, and uses of pneumatic ball valves.

Advantages of the pneumatic ball valves:
1. The fluid flow resistance is small, whether the resistance and related factor of safety are equal to those of the same length of pipe sections.
2. Tight and reliable. The sealing surface material of the ball valve has been extensively studied. It is made of plastic with good sealing performance, which has been widely used in vacuum environmental systems.
3. The operation method is simple and convenient. The opening and closing mechanism has developed rapidly. From full opening to full closing, we only need to rotate 90 degrees. It is convenient for students to control it from a long distance.
4. The computerized maintenance management system is convenient. The pneumatic ball valve is simple in structural design. The sealing ring is generally movable. It is easy to disassemble.
5. When fully opened or fully closed, the sealing surface of the ball and medium is isolated from the valve seat. The medium passes through without causing wear on the valve-sealing surface.
6. The scope of application research is extensive, ranging from a diameter of a few millimeters to several meters, from high vacuum to high pressure, which can be applied.
7. Due to the fact that the power source of pneumatic ball valves is gas, and the pressure is generally 0, 2-0, or 8MPa, the development of this system is relatively safe. If the pneumatic ball valve leaks, compared with the hydraulic and electric vehicle enterprises, we can choose to discharge the gas through direct influence, which will not pollute the environmental resource management work. It is also a high-cost safety.
8. Pneumatic ball valves have a larger diameter than manual and turbine ball valves. (Manual and turbine ball valves usually have a caliber lower than DN300, while pneumatic ball valves can reach DN1200 caliber)

The disadvantages are as follows:
1. Its regulating performance is worse than that of shut-off valves, especially pneumatic valves.

2. The main seat sealing ring material of the pneumatic ball valve is polytetrafluoroethylene. It is inert in almost all chemical research materials and cultures in China. However, we need to learn the physical knowledge of polytetrafluoroethylene, including the high expansion risk coefficient of enterprises, sensitivity to cold flow, and poor thermal conductivity. It requires the design of valve seat seals. We need to conduct research on the characteristics of these technical products around solving problems.

3. When the sealing material hardens, the reliability of the seal will be compromised. Moreover, polytetrafluoroethylene is resistant to low temperatures. It can only be used below 180 ℃. Beyond our working temperature, the sealing material will age. If you want to use it for a long time, it is generally recommended to use it at 120 ℃.

Usage of the pneumatic ball valve:
The basic principle of pneumatic regulating ball valves is to rotate the valve core to make the valve unobstructed or blocked. The switch light of pneumatic ball valves has a small volume. It can be made into a large-diameter one with reliable sealing, and a simple structure. And it is easy to maintain. The sealing surface and ball are often in a closed state, which is not easily corroded by the medium. It has been widely used in various industries.

Pneumatic ball valves and plug valves belong to the same data type of valves, but their closure and partial closure are based on a ball, which rotates around the centerline of the valve body to open and close. Pneumatic ball valves are mainly used in pipelines to cut off propagation, distribute and change the flow of the working medium.
